I've been going to book club for almost a year now and we've read several different series over that time. One thing I've noticed, is that I'm extremely brutal on the books. I don't mean to be, but these people are getting paid a lot of money to write. I feel like the books should be better than something I could come up with. The last series we read was horrible! There were plot holes you could drive a semi through and apparently that was okay. The writing was cheesy and totally predictable. I thought more than once that there is no way in hell that my awesome beta would have ever let me get away with half-assing a story the way these books were half assed. So I guess my question is, am I alone in this club? Do you read a book and find yourself being hard on the author? Maybe it's because of the book club. I can sit back and read a book and not give it much thought beyond whether I liked it or not, but with book club we have to discuss it. So I find myself trying to point out reasons for my like or dislike.
The girls in my group say I'm the unforgiving one. I'm a hardass I guess. I know, none of you are the least bit surprised!

9:54 am - 8 Days of Happiness - Day 5

Snagged from teachertam. She didn't want to tag people, but I volunteered so here goes.
The rules are that for 8 days you have to post something that made you happy that day. Tag 8 people to do the same.
I'm not tagging people either, but if anyone would like to play, please do. It's a lot of fun and reminds me throughout the day to take notice of what's going on around me.
Day 5 - Wednesday - It seems I'm always a day late and a dollar short on posting these things, but at least I get them posted eventually, right?
Anyway, Wednesday night was my annual wrapping party. Every year I take all of my presents and wrapping supplies to my friend's house. We order pizza, eat cookies, and wrap all of our presents in one night. It's a lot of fun. It started when Veronica Mars was in it's first season and that year we rewatched "An Echolls Family Christmas". That has become part of our tradition with us adding shows along the way. Last night, we watched the VM epi, a Christmas epi of Bones, and the musical epi of Buffy.
I always look forward to this one night every year. It's lame and yet productive and I love it! Oh, and my friend, A, and I exchange gifts that night as well. This year I got an awesome cookbook. I love it. I got her S5 of Buffy because that is what we had recently finished watching. Good times.

This year I'm doing the twelve days of Christmas, fic style. What does that mean? Well, for the next twelve days, there will be fic. And there will be fic for everyone on my flist! The first fic will be set in the Buffy fandom. It will last for four days, starting tonight. You don't like Buffy, you say? The next fic will be an original fic, again lasting four days. Nemo, when will you realize your stabs at original writing suck? No worries, the last fic will be in the OC fandom. It comes last because it doubles as one of my Secret Santa presents. It will also last for...you guessed it, four days. The last posting day will be Christmas Eve. I didn't want anyone to have to tune in Christmas Day to find out if Seth dies. KIDDING! There will be no death...well, in the OC fic anyway! LOL
